TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck a southern Iranian province Saturday, Books killing at least one person and injuring more than 30 others, Iranian media reported.
The quake 22 kilometers (14 miles) northeast of Kish Island in Hormozgan province happened at 8:07 a.m.

In 2003, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people. A magnitude 7 earthquake that struck western Iran in 2017 killed more than 600 people and injured more than 9,000.
